Connecting West Brant with BCI

Beginning next year (2025-26), Brantford Collegiate Institute and Vocational School (BCI) is partnering with Brantford Transit on an exciting pilot project that will benefit students and families, and better connect the southwest region of the city (West Brant) with the BCI community. As part of this pilot program, transit passes will be provided free of charge to students residing in West Brant who don’t qualify for school transportation.

Who is eligible for the free transit pass?

Incoming BCI students beginning Grade 9 who reside in the southwest region of the city of Brantford, within 3.2 kilometres of the school and do not qualify for regular school transportation.

How do eligible students obtain their transit pass?

The transit pass includes a photo identification, so a one-time visit to the Brantford Transit office is required to obtain your photo card. Brantford Transit is located at 64 Darling Street, Brantford, Ontario, N3T 6C6, and open seven days a week.

How long are passes valid?

Passes will be valid for the duration of a semester, and can be renewed for subsequent semesters, provided the student continues to be enrolled.

Can transit passes be used outside of travel to and from school?

Yes! Your transit pass can be used for travel any time buses are in operation, and on any Brantford Transit routes.

Which bus routes connect West Brant to BCI?

Two route options provide convenient access to BCI. These routes include the #5 West Brant Oakhill and the #6 West Brant Shellard, arriving at the downtown terminal. From there, students can connect to the #4 Mall Link or walk to the school directly (one kilometre).

What is the best way to find route schedules, maps and other transit information?

Brantford Transit has an app for on-the-go information, updates and an interactive schedule finder. There is also an online portal for more detailed information and route maps accessible by clicking here.
