Municipal and School Board Elections 2026

The Grand Erie District School Board has 10 elected Trustees, representing the City of Brantford and the Counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk. Elected Trustees include:

  • City of Brantford: four Trustees, elected at-large
  • Brant County and Norfolk County (Wards 3 & 7): two Trustees, elected at-large
  • Norfolk County (less Wards 3 & 7): two Trustees, elected at-large
  • Haldimand County: two Trustees, elected at-large

The Board of Trustees also includes two Indigenous appointees representing the interests, under the Education Services Agreements, of Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Six Nations.

School Board Trustees must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • a Canadian citizen
  • reside within the school board area
  • be a supporter of the public school board; and,
  • not be disqualified by any legislation from holding the office of trustee.

Key Dates

  • May 1, 2026: Nomination and Campaign Period Begins
  • August 21, 2026 (by 2 p.m.): Nomination Day (Last to be Nominated), Final Day for Withdrawal of Candidacy
  • October 26, 2026: Voting Day
  • November 14, 2026: 2022-2026 Term of Office Ends
  • November 15, 2026: 2026-2030 Term of Office Begins
  • December 31, 2026: Election Campaign Period Ends
  • November 14, 2030: School Board Term of Office Ends
