Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week is recognized annually in Ontario during the week beginning on the third Sunday of November. It provides an opportunity to raise awareness about bullying and promote safe, inclusive and respectful learning environments.

Bullying can affect students' well-being, sense of belonging and academic success. Recognizing the signs of bullying, responding early and supporting students are important parts of prevention.

Through classroom learning and school-wide activities, students can develop empathy, respect and positive relationships while recognizing the important role everyone plays in preventing bullying.

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week

Grand Erie Connections

Grand Erie supports Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week through resources designed to help schools promote kindness, inclusion and a sense of belonging.

Elementary and secondary schools have access to daily announcements and suggested activities that encourage students to recognize bullying, support one another, speak up when they witness harmful behaviour and contribute to welcoming school environments.

Activities include classroom discussion, kindness and inclusion challenges, digital citizenship learning and opportunities for students to reflect on how their words and actions affect others.

The resources also reinforce the importance of Grand Erie's You Belong Here benches as spaces that encourage connection and belonging.
