Are you looking for child care services? 

To support families and young students, Grand Erie partners with licensed day care providers, before- and after-school programs, EarlyON Child and Family Centres, and authorized recreational programs. In many schools, we provide space for third-party organizations to offer child care services. 

The City of Brampton’s Children's Services and Early Years Department can also help local families find child care, apply for a child care subsidy, access free drop-in programs, and support children with special needs in licensed child care.

A concussion is a brain injury that causes changes in the way the brain functions.   

Because children and adolescents are vulnerable to concussions, Grand Erie’s Student Concussion and Head Injury Policy is designed to help educators, parents and students themselves reduce the potential impact of this injury. Working together, we can prevent concussions, recognize signs of a possible injury, and manage the safe return to school and other activities for students diagnosed by a medical professional with a concussion.

Post-secondary education – whether in an apprenticeship program, trade school, college or university – can open up a world of opportunities for a child.

An RESP is a long-term savings plan designed to help parents and caregivers save for a child’s education after high school. It also provides a way to access two incentives, the Canada Education Savings Grant and The Canada Learning Bond, that add to the contributions parents and caregivers make. 

Learning doesn’t happen only in a classroom. Families can support the learning experience at home in many ways.

As a parent, there’s a lot you can do to get involved in your child’s education beyond asking the tired question, “What did you learn in school today?” Stay informed with our Parent Portal, help your child with learning alternatives such as eLearning, or try out fun math activities from our Family Math newsletter.

Our Parent Involvement Committee brings together parents and guardians from across Grand Erie to foster stronger connections between parents and the school system.

GEPIC works at the board level to increase meaningful parent involvement, improve student achievement and well-being, and enhance belonging, inclusion, and engagement. The committee also helps communicate important information from the Ministry of Education to parents and guardians.

Kids do love a snow day, but parents appreciate that the decision to cancel transportation services is rooted in our steadfast concern for safety.

Typically, we cancel buses and close schools when forecasted road conditions or visibility will prevent safe road travel. In extreme cold weather, we also cancel buses, but all Grand Erie schools remain open to students and staff. We make the call, and communicate any cancellations, by 6:30 a.m. whenever possible: check this website, your email, and local media.

School councils – there’s one at every school in Grand Erie – work to promote and improve student achievement as well as school performance by focusing on issues that affect the whole school community.

We know that parental engagement benefits everyone, especially students. Participating in a school council is a great way for parents and guardians to get involved in school life. School councils, which include parents, the principal and other school staff representatives, and community representatives, help foster a strong connection between parents and the school. 

Our school calendars are designed to help parents plan for the year. 

The calendars show the beginning and end of the school year, school holidays and Professional Activity days. They also show days set aside for student evaluations (when teachers evaluate student progress) and learning support (when individual students receive targeted support).

The calendars are developed in collaboration with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board.

We are dedicated to maintaining a safe learning environment for our students. Unfortunately, accidents can still happen. 

Grand Erie does not provide accident insurance coverage for student injuries that occur on school property or during school activities, including extracurricular sports. Some injuries may result in medical, dental, or other expenses not covered by provincial health care. As a parent/guardian, you become responsible for these expenses.

We encourage all parents/guardians to review their coverage and available student accident plans to decide whether or not to purchase additional insurance.
