GELA is an Alternative Education School
We operate on a continuous intake model and instruction is delivered in smaller classes through blended learning. Our courses are mostly workplace level for students headed to the workplace. Students seeking a college pathway would need to upgrade some courses. We offer a variety of academics and hands on courses using the D2L Platform. The students are supported individually by our small but dedicated staff. As well, students have access to school support personnel such as Child Youth Worker and a Social Worker. We also work closely and invite counsellors from community agencies such as LEAP (Learning, Earning and Parenting). Ontario Works, Mental Health and Addiction Nurse, the Brant County Health Unit and the Sexual Assault Centre.
Students must be 16 years of age to enroll in GELA day school programming and have earned or attempted compulsory Grade 9 & Grade 10 courses.
